James Stenson
James graduated from Newport's prestigious School of Documentary Photography in 1997 and, soon after winning the Tom Webster Award and being highly commended by the Observer Hodge award, he launched himself as a freelance photographer. Since that time he has worked on portrait and reportage stories for a range of British newspapers and magazines including Marie Claire, GQ, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Time Out, Radio Times, FHM, The Saturday and Sunday Times magazines, Night and Day and The Telegraph Magazine.
He has worked extensively for the major television companies in Britain, including the BBC, Channel 4 and, most recently, Channel 5. He has photographed some of the biggest and brightest names in the British film and television industry.
Since 2004 he has split his time between the UK and the US and, while living in Los Angeles, has successfully made the transition to shooting for US magazines. His work has featured in Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, Variety, US Magazine, US Elle, US FHM and Time, among others.
Alongside his commercial work he continues to work on private projects and his photographs have been exhibited at the Photographers Gallery London, Photo Gallery Cardiff and Impact Photo Gallery in Bristol.
